INTERMISSION #9
Image Description: The train says 'Alright, now that you've got your sights lined up, aim the gun at the can.' Baptismal Font says 'Wait, do I need to be looking at this?' Baptismal Font is holding the gun level. Baptismal Font says 'I'm sorry, I can't actually see out of my front eyes, let me just-' The train says 'Wait what do you mean by that-' Baptismal Font says 'Is this better?' The train says 'Oh my god' She says 'Alright just- Nevermind, start slowing your breath down. You want to move as little as possible.' Then, she says 'OH MY GOD DON'T STOP BREATHING. DO YOU WANT TO DIE. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO DIE.' Baptismal Font inhales. The train says 'Okay, nerd, once you're done with that, pull the trigger. Gently. And mind the kickback.' Baptismal Font looks at the camera innocently, and fiddles with their paws. Their cap is off, letting liquid pour down onto the ground. They say 'Did I do okay...?' The bullet is shown to be nowhere near the can, which is proped up on a stump. Angie smiles anxiously, and gives them a thumbs up. He says 'Yeah sure buddy you did great!!' Later, Baptismal Font says 'Thank you for letting me stay for dinner. The train says '...You cook your food?' Baptismal Font says 'Isn't city culture so fascinating?' The two are standing around a fire. It's assumed that Baptismal Font is cooking something. They say 'My friends were from the city, and their tiny bodies couldn't handle raw meat like ours could. Sometimes they use these small plant-things called 'spices.' I can bring you some before we leave tomorrow. They taste really good, I promise.' The train says 'Ain't that a lot of work?' Baptismal Font says 'It's not that bad! My- a good friend of mine taught me how. Once you get the hang out it, it gets kind of fun. ... I miss cooking for other folks.' The train says 'Your friends, right?' Baptismal Font says 'Yeah, I- Oh dear. We'll be leaving tomorrow. I'll have to leave them behind.' Baptismal Font looks startled. The train says 'I thought no one else lived out here? We're miles out from the nearest town.' Baptismal Font says 'No, no, they don't live there anymore. I'm the only one left. It's just- I can't leave. I know I can't help them anymore, but I feel like I'm abandoning them.' The train says '... You're weird. Has anyone ever told you that before?' Baptismal Font says 'Yeah. I had a friend that did.' The train looks away, disappointed. She says 'You oughtta head back. Sun'll break soon, and I'm sure you'll want to get some sleep before we leave. Say goodbye to your friends or whatever.' Baptismal Font says 'Yeah, you're right. Thanks for having dinner with me.' They say 'Wait, I didn't catch your name. What was it?' The train says 'Engine, but everyone calls me Angie. Yours?' Baptismal Font says 'Baptismal Font. It's a pleasure to meet you.' Angie says 'Charmed to meet you too.' Farther down, Baptismal Font is sitting on the power plant's platform. They say 'I can't believe this is my last night in the power plant. It doesn't feel real. I'm scared. But somehow, I think it's going to be okay.'
