SIGNUP REFERENCE

      Image description:
      Name: VCR
      Pronouns: they/xe/she
      Object: Videocassette Recorder
      Favorite Color: White or pink!

      What's their personality like?:
VCR is very sweet! They weren't programmed with negative emotions in mind. Xe has a hard time expressing negative emotions, and they struggle to recognise anger, sarcasm, and the like. Downsides of being a robot, unfortunately. However, they try to make the best of things!! VCR is definitely an optimist.

They are also very touchy. VCR loves hugs, holding hands with friends and picking up misfortunate objects that happen to be within their reach. They think everyone is their friend. No one is safe.

Reason for joining? Goal?: VCR can't remember what exactly happened to them, or what object created them. Their overarching goal is to figure out what happened with that. They're in the competition because they are wildly mistaken about what is going to happen. Xe thinks they're all going to get along and be friends with everyone. Xe is wildly mistaken.

What's their favorite food?: VCR doesn't need to eat, they're electronic. However that does not mean they don't like ingesting things. VCR will eat anything handed to them. The stranger, the better. End description Image description: An anthropromorphic VCR player that is standing and waving. The text reads: VCR. They/xe/she. An unmarked VHS tape is stuck inside their mouth. They have a forked tongue. Xe is made up of really old electronics that haven't been repaired/replaced in a very long time. Their wires have been damaged due to radiation, causing them to occasionally electrocute whomever they touch. Think joy buzzer but worse. End text. End description.
UPDATED REFERENCE
Image description: An anthropromorphic VCR player standing up, waving. The image is duplicated, one with eyes and one without; the image without the eyes is labeled 'chassis.' There is a third image of them sitting down, tongue out that is labeled 'forked tongue'; and a fourth image of a plug labeled 'plug tail.' The text reads: VCR. They/xe/she. End text. End description
OFFICIAL REFERENCE
Image description: An anthropromorphic VCR player with one leg kicked up. She is smiling and has her tongue rolled out of her mouth. The text states 'USER: VCR.' End description.
Art belongs to Petra!! This is still one of my favorite VCR images of all time. :) Thank you so much for letting me into Electric Remains!!
BAPTISMAL FONT REFERENCE
Image description: An anthropromorphic baptismal font standing on their hind legs, holding a bible. They have 11 eyes on their head, and they are frowning. The image is dupilcated four times. The first image is labeled 'pre-accident.' On the second image, they are half covered by black scaring, resembling fractal wood burns. It is labeled 'post-accident.' On the third, their cap is off and their head is tilted forward revealing a hole that has 11 eyes sitting in it. Water is dripping out of the hole. It is labeled 'lid off,' and has an arrow pointing to it, saying 'always crying when lid is off.' On the fourth, the water is missing. It is labeled 'lid off + no tears.' The text reads: Baptismal Font. They/them. End description.
INSIDE THE FONT
Image description: A diagram of how the inside of Baptismal Font's head looks. The first image depicts them taking off their cap, revealing that the inside of their head is completely lined with eyes, unlike the 11 eyes usually seen. It is labeled 'INSIDE OF FONT,' while the cap specifically has a label saying 'FALSE EYES AUTOMATICALLY SHUT.' Below it is an image of their cap seperated from their head, with sharp teeth lining the sides of both the cap and the font. It is labeled 'DETACHABLE TEETH.' To the side, there is a final image of a cross-section of Baptismal Font's head. It depicts the eyes lining the side of their font, and the water that sits ontop. It is labeled 'WATER SITS ONTOP.' End description.
Over time, I've gotten a lot of questions on how Baptismal Font's whole head works!! They're kind of fucked up anatomically-wise. There's a tongue in there somewhere too, I just don't know where to put it.
MS PAINT DOODLES
Image description: Baptismal Font holding VCR in their arms. The text reads: 'Can you tell me more about what I don't remember?' 'Well, we used to have lots of friends, and we all used to live together. We'd throw big dances and dinner parties.' 'What happened?' 'They got sick.' End description.
Image description: An anthropromorphic ATM holding VCR hamburger style. Text reads: 'I like being held but I can't remember why. Do you know why I like being held?' 'Well, video cassette recorders were made by humans. While mostly stationary, they were designed to be portable.' 'But I was made by an object?' 'Perhaps you are just VCR.' End description.
Image description: Baptismal Font standing over VCR. Text reads: 'Are you God?' 'God would not have done the things I have.''But God is the creator, and you created me.' 'You don't remember the scaffold.' 'Can we play cards?' 'Why? you'll only loose?' End description.
Image description: 11 characters standing up. The first is an anthropromorphic radio that is getting pushed over by the anthropromorphic telegraph machine that is leaning on it. The telegraph has an arm on an anthropromorphic control panel. The control panel is next to an anthropromorphic radio that has one leg kicked up, and is talking to an anthropromorphic vaccuum. The vaccuum looks bothered, and is standing next to an anthropromorphic spot light, who looks even more bothered. Next to the spot light is an anthropromorphic microwave that is smiling. They are standing next to an anthropromorphic vintage camera that is gesturing to their own face. This camera is standing next to an old anthropromorphic record player, which is looking at them. An anthropromorphic rotary phone base is standing next to the record player. Finally, the anthropromorphic telephone to that rotary base is standing next to her. It is accompanied by the text 'Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises.' On the bottom there are 11 graves. It is accompanied by the text 'We're pretty sure they're all wrong.' This is lyrics to the song No Children by the Mountain Goats. End description.
VCR/PHYLLIS SWAP DESIGNS
Image description: A pink arcade pony ride machine, labeled 'One Trick Pony.' The other is a furry gray moth with a coryceps infection, labeled 'Can't think of a fun name for xem.' End description.
SO GLAD that ER had like. A period in time where we kept discussing swaps and fusions because. I LOVE PUTTING GUYS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS. I am SO SAD that there can never be a fusion challenge because of setting constraints. Looking up at the camera with the saddest, wettest, most fish-like eyes I can muster. I would do anything for a fusion challenge.
APRIL FOOLS ENTRY
Image description: Crudely drawn MS Paint doodle. The title writes 'ENTRY 4'. The first image is of VCR angrily holding up a tangled Task Manager, accompanied by the text 'VCR HATE Task!!!' Next, VCR is drawn kicking away a bunch of rats, saying 'FUCK THEM KIDS.' VCR is then drawn holding a bowl with a horse silly band inside of it (Phyllis), to the text of 'PEANUT OIL BOWL.' Finally, VCR and Baptismal Font are holding hands. VCR looks angry, while Baptismal Font is blushing and smiling. VCR's dialogue reads: 'LET'S GET REMARRIED' while Baptismal Font's reads 'Okay!!!' End description.
A bunch of us submitted fake entries on April Fools' day for challenge #4; this was mine!! Still surprised that more folks didn't opt to submit peanut oil bowl entries, considering that was a running joke in earlier ER.
BAPTISMAL FONT CONCEPT ART
Image description: A simplified Baptismal Font doodle. They are standing with their arms outstretched in the first image. The text on this doodle says 'False eyes (can't see)'. The second image shows them holding their cap off, with the annotation of 'real eyes.' The bottom of the image notes to count the amount of eyes they have. There are 11. End description.
The first Baptismal Font design!! Not pictured but there is an alternate version of this image with hooves!! Baptismal Font almost had hooves, but I decided paws looked better.
ALTERNATE BAPTISMAL FONT DESIGN
Image description: A Baptismal Font desgin that is a square-type Baptismal Font instead of the round one that they actually are. They are on all fours, and the 11 eyes are on the front panel. End description.
This image was made post-Baptismal Font's actual first appearence & design finalization, but I did consider a square-ish Baptismal Font design. The idea for a Baptismal Font came after I saw one in a local church I volunteer at. Ironically, there is a VCR in this church as well. It had a Veggietales tape still in it.
TOUCH AND TONE REFERENCE
Image description: An anthropromorphic rotary phone that is standing up and smiling. She is labelled Touch. There is an anthropromorphic telephone standing on all fours ontop of her, that is labeled Tone. End description.
Touch and Tone!! It's such a shame that I haven't gotten to show off Touch's design more in my entries, she's one of my favorite VCR backstory guys. :( I think out of all of the VCR deaths, hers makes me the most upset.
ENTRY 6 CONCEPT ART
Image description: Fusion concept designs between Task Manager and Baptismal Font. The first is more similar to Baptismal Font. They are on all fours. Their face is blacked out, and has only two eyes and a heartline monitor for a mouth. Their body has three of Task's icons: a folder, a CD, and a globe. The globe is hoisted off of the ground so that the legs are not touching. They have their own fur-covered paws, with the exception of Task's icon tail, which is an hourglass loading symbol. The second is more reminiscent of Task Manager. They are standing upright on their hind legs. They have Task's head, but the screen is black instead of blue. Their body is replaced with Baptismal Font's body. They have retained their limbs, excluding for their hind legs and tail, which are reminiscent of Baptismal Font's. On the bottom of the image, there are two concepts for how these fusions would interact with VCR. The first is labelled 'VCR perspective.' It depicts the second fusion design kneeling down to VCR's level. VCR is staring up at them, wearing a bow. The dialogue says, 'Are you lost, little sheep?' It switches between Task Manager's font (Digital Delivery) and Baptismal Font's (Times New Roman). Beside it, there is an image titled 'Reality,' Where Task is holding up a confused VCR by the arm. Task Manager looks unamused. The dialogue reads, 'VCR. VCR do you need help. VCR. Earth to VCR.' VCR's dialogue reads 'TASSSSSSSSSK' while switching between various fonts. End description.
The original concept for entry 6 was a lot different!! This was before I pitched the idea of collaborating with Arthur, so he didn't really know what I was doing. :)
