INTERMISSION #2
Image description: Bonus content palette. VCR is waving up at ATM. VCR says 'Um, excuse me? ATM?' ATM says 'What is it, smaller one.' VCR says 'Do you think you can tell me more about the books? And the human things? Everyone is acting strange. I keep hearing them talk about Radon. I haven't seen Radon in a bit now, but no one will tell me what happened. My first best friend used to tell me stories about what I used to be like. I know it's a lot to ask, but could you tell me more? I think I could use a bit of normal right now. Everyone is acting strange, and my rust hurts.' VCR is looking up at ATM. ATM immediately picks them up, and stares at them intensely. Dae say 'You want to know more about the humans?' ATM lies down next to VCR, who is sitting. ATM says 'So, what do you want to know about them?' VCR says 'I don't know what the books are about, but I do know how to read the English thing you mentioned! I don't think I was ever taught, but I know how to. Sometimes I remember things I shouldn't remember.' ATM says 'Peculiar. Is there anything you wish to know?' VCR says 'Do you know anything about power plants?'ATM says 'Power plants. Hm. The humans have used many different forms of energy to fuel their societies. Among the notable have been solar, coal, wind, and nuclear power plants. Do any of those strike your fancy?' VCR says 'Nuclear, please.' ATM thinks for a moment, before responding. 'Nuclear power plants were one of the ways humans generated energy. Despite being one of the safest modes of electricity generation, as well as being one of the modes with the lowest carbon footprint, they were widely criticized and eventually the United States of America, the former human country we live in, slowed production of them in the 90s. The energy is generated in the nuclear reactor, the heart of the power plant. It is generated through nuclear fission, a process that breaks down large elements into smaller, more stable elements. This reaction releases copious amounts of heat, which heats the core and generates energy through the turbines. It is incredibly important to regard the safety and health of the power plant, as failed attempts could have potentially disasterous consequences. One of the most disasterous nuclear disasters was the Y2K incident, which fried technology at the time and sent many nuclear power plants into meltdown, triggering the current climate that we are living in, and killed off the dominate species at the time, humans. The text fades into error messages, which read, 'So, you're all probably wondering why I gathered you all here today!' 'The safe haven, right? You promised.' 'Shh-! Vacuum! I'm getting there! Let me build suspense, y'know?' 'Is this thing really legitimate? I left my entire wire-selling business for this. You better not be another scam artist.' 'I promise you, Spotlight, this is the real deal. No predators, no rats, not even grass grows here! Look, it's all red. Under your feet.' 'Besides, if you don't believe me, then maybe you'll at least believe my spouse, Baptismal Font. You'll love them, I promise.' 'They've been living here for over a month while I went to gather folks to share with us and nothing bad's happened to them yet! I knew when I found this place that I had to take them here.' 'Besides, you're free to leave whenever you please. I didn't charge you to come here, and I won't charge you to stay.' 'This is what I've always wanted. It's dangerous out there, trying to pay your way through life, all while avoiding predators and the cold.' 'But here, we can escape that. We can start anew. No money, no advertisements, no fighting, no rats. It's safe here.' 'That's what a nerd would say.' 'Oh hush, Telegraph. Who wants to see the place?' ATM notices that VCR's battery has died. Xe is still smiling even though xe is dead. ATM thinks 'I must've talked the poor thing to death. I ought to at least take them back to charge.' ATM stands up, and picks VCR up to inspect her. Dae think 'I never did get a close look at her construction. They're... certainly scuffed. The plastic plates are cracked and poorly put together. The screws are put in at strange angles, and some are barely even in there. There are a lot of scuffs and dents on her. Whoever must have put them together must have been in a rush.' There is a close-up of the damage on VCR's chassis. ATM thinks 'Xe smells of burnt woods and- God. I am resisting the urge to gag.' ATM plugs in VCR- VCR's shadow is a distorted silhouette of the scaffolding that Baptismal Font is sitting on in the first intermission. ATM thinks 'What happened to you, VCR?' End description.
